Nele Plock studied pharmacy at the Westfaelische Wilhelms Universität Muenster, Germany. Afterwards, she gained practical work experience in both hospital and public pharmacies. Between 2003 and 2007, she worked on her doctoral thesis in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Martin-Luther-Universitaet, Halle, Germany. The thesis was mainly concerned with pharmacokinetics of antiinfectives in critically ill patients, and pharmacokinetic evaluations were performed using the population pharmacokinetic approach. Her results have been published in several peer reviewed original research articles. Nele Plock joined the department of development pharmacokinetics at Bayer Schering Pharma AG (Berlin, Germany) in January 2007, where she has been working as a pharmacometrician. She is in charge of preclinical modeling activities to make PK and PD predictions for human studies. The most commonly used techniques are population PK(PD) analyses as well as physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling.
