Ronald A. Siegel is Professor of Pharmaceutics and Biomedical Engineering, and Department Head of Pharmaceutics at the University of Minnesota. He received his Sc.D. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 1984. He was a faculty member of the Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences at UCSF during1984-1998, after which he moved to the University of Minnesota. During 1997-1998 he was President of the Controlled Release Society (CRS). He has served on editorial boards of Journal of Controlled Release, Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, AAPS/PharmSci, Polymer, and Polymer Gels and Networks. He is Fellow of AAPS and of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering. He received the 2002 CRS/Jorge Heller Best Paper Award for Journal of Controlled Release. Professor Siegel's research interests include engineered biosensors and drug delivery systems, polymer hydrogels, micro- and nanofabrication, modeling of diffusion/reaction in membranes, and mathematical modeling of PK/PD.
