Paolo Vicini

Paolo Vicini, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Washington. He earned his Laurea degree in Electronics Engineering in 1992 at the University of Padova, and his Bioengineering Ph.D. in 1996 from the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy. His methodological and applied research interests have been in parameter estimation and model selection in a variety of areas impacting biomedicine, including glucose-insulin metabolism, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, nonlinear mixed effects models, experiment design and software development. He was involved in the development of the SAAM II software and he is the Director of the Resource Facility for Population Kinetics (RFPK), a NIH/NIBIB P41 research resource whose main deliverable is the System for Population Kinetics (SPK), a novel web service for population kinetic analysis. In 2003, he received the IEEE/EMBS Early Career Award.
